Practice
Karen Jansen Casey joined Cooney, Scully and Dowling in 1981. Mrs. Casey practices in the areas of not-for-profit and for-profit corporate law, estate planning, real estate and real estate litigation, zoning, probate and probate litigation.
Professional Experience
Mrs. Casey works extensively with not-for-profit corporations including the Archdiocese of Hartford, the Sisters of Saint Joseph, Catholic Charities, the Connecticut Province of the Sisters of Notre Dame de Namur, churches, schools, nursing facilities, cemeteries and religious entities, on a variety of matters and issues. She has lectured on real estate and real estate litigation to fellow attorneys as well as to other professionals and has also lectured to non-profit corporations on a variety of legal and business topics including directors and officers' duties and liabilities.
Professional and Civic Activities
Mrs. Casey is a member of the American, Connecticut and Hartford County Bar Associations. She serves on the Board of the New England Province of the Congregation's (Vincentian Fathers') Retirement Trust and has been its President since 1992. In addition, she serves on the Board of Caring for Kids which financially assists parents whose children face catastrophic health issues.
