Practice
John O’Neil Sheehy joined Cooney, Scully and Dowling in 2019. The primary focus of his practice is in the area of general civil litigation.
Professional Experience
Mr. Sheehy represents clients in a wide range of matters including premises liability defense, uninsured/underinsured motorist defense and the defense of the State of Connecticut in motor vehicle related claims. He also has a broad range of experience defending professionals against malpractice and attorney vexatious litigation claims as well as defending commercial clients in product liability and discrimination matters
Prior to joining Cooney, Scully and Dowling, Mr. Sheehy worked for a regional and a national law firm and served as a law clerk for the Honorable Joseph Flynn and the Honorable Francis M. McDonald of the Connecticut Appellate Court. He has been named a Rising Star by Super Lawyers magazine 2019-2022.
Professional and Civic Activities
Mr. Sheehy graduated from the University of Connecticut School of Law in 2011 and served as Articles Editor for the Connecticut Law Review. Prior to attending law school, Mr. Sheehy worked for several years in the dean’s and public affairs offices of the Yale Law School.
